I just wanted to say that your blogs are some of the best, hands down. I always enjoy reading what you have to say. It’s very insightful and well thought out. Your writing skill is also superb. Well done Ryan! =)

I have to agree entirely, the few times that friends have given me an account with a high level toon w/ gear to play with, I’ve felt out of place, like I’m sitting in someone else’s car driver seat(like everything is new and confusing, but set to someone else’s configuration). But at the same time I know that when I’ve entered into a game that has been on the market for awhile and the newbie areas are empty I’ve wanted to just skip it all. Or if a game revolves around level based PvP, but those are few and far between times. The only reason I would buy an account is if I had cash to spend and needed to catch up for whatever reason.

Well thanks, Cuppy! I don’t know about all that, but comments like that are a nice reminder that I’m not blogging in a vacuum!
I totally agree with you there, Cheston. Buying or receiving (or stealing via pk irl) an account less than or equal to your own doesn’t seem quite so bad. Thinking back, I’ve had a couple good experiences doing this, but really nothing long-term. My personal experience with alts and alternate accounts is that I always just end up going back to my main. Buying a pre-established character just to have fun with once in a while after raids or something might not be so bad, either.
